Recipes for fun

Welcome to my Website Posted on Fri, August 03, 2018 14:31:58

Here are a few ideas for keeping everyone busy.

When my children were small I remember searching for ideas to help pass the time which were inexpensive and fun.

Children of all ages love this.

Mix Cornflour in a bowl with water until it becomes thick, so you can still pour it but feels solid under pressure. Put it in a washing up bowl or straight on to a tray/table and allow the children to explore the texture, different toys can be added for children to play or haircombs to make patterns with.
This used to keep my children entertained for ages and it is easy to wash up afterwards.
You can always add food colouring if wanted.

1 cup water
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup salt
1 tablespoon cream of tartar
food colouring
1 Cup flour

Mix water, oil, salt, cream of tartar, and food colouring in a saucepan and heat until warm.
Remove from the heat and add the flour.
Stir, then knead until smooth.
Store the dough in an air tight container.

The Cream of Tartar makes this dough last for 6 months at least so don’t forget to add it

Marbled paper.

Mix a small amount of vegetable oil with some drops of food colouring and mix well.
Make a few pots of different colours.
Take a pie dish or something similar and cover the base with water and then add drops of the coloured mixture to it,add a couple of different colours, you will see lots of bubbles appear on the surface of the water, take a piece of card or thicker paper and place on the surface of the water, lift it off and hang to dry.
Lots of pretty marbled paper on the washing line always looks good and then when dry the children have pretty pictures or they can use them as invitations to parties or to write letters on (if we still write them).

This was always one of my favourite games to play.

Hope that you all have fun xxxx

Baby Toys

Welcome to my Website Posted on Thu, June 14, 2018 19:18:24

I have just taken delivery of some beautiful handcrafted toys and rattles for little ones, these are from Companies who look after their staff and ensure that their workplace environment is safe and the company that makes Pebble toys – Hathay Bunano – was started back in 2004 by Samantha Morshead MBE. On moving to Bangladesh she loved its vibrancy and energy but also saw that it was a place of incredible poverty. With a vision of bringing sustainable and flexible employment to rural and disadvantaged women she started teaching them knitting and crocheting skills and Hathay Bunano was born.

Hathay Bunano provides fairly paid, good quality, flexible and local employment for rural women who are poor and often disadvantaged.
Hathay Bunano means hand made or hand knitted .
when you buy one of these beautifully handcrafted Toys you are helping the artisans support their families.
More about the Companies I use next time.
Hope you are all having a happy time. Take a look at my online shop to see some of these fabulous toys.

all the best

Children’s Bath Toys

Welcome to my Website Posted on Fri, April 13, 2018 15:23:31

Natural Rubber Children’s Bath Toys, not only do they look fabulous they are fun, tactile have many uses, eco-friendly, hand made and they are safer too.

There has been a lot of news just recently about what was lurking in the plastic bath toys but now its actually been scientifically proven too.

The Study was conducted by the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology ETH Zurich and the University of Illinois.

When they cut open some childrens bath toys they discovered that some potentially harmful bacteria was being harboured including Legionella and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the latter generally being linked with hospital infections.

So when Best Years Ltd brought out their natural rubber dinosaurs I had to have some, not only are they more environmentally friendly than plastic they have no holes in so no nasties can be lurking but they also are hand made from natural rubber, great for teething, fabulous for Bath times and so much better for our environment.
Win Win all round.
They are one of my Best Sellers too.

Socially Responsible Companies

Welcome to my Website Posted on Mon, April 09, 2018 13:58:49

A little bit of information about one of the Toy Companies I buy my toys from.

It is really important to me that the Toys I buy are Fairly Traded and Ethically Sourced that is why I spend hours researching each Company I use, for example, Legler have received (FSCĀ®).certification, this is great news and ensures that the woods they use in the manufacture of the toys is not only from farmed forests or plantations but will be regularly inspected by the Forest Steward Council (FSCĀ®).

This Company not only looks after our environment but also campaigns for the traditions and human rights that follow on from the responsible use of forests in manufacturing the Toys.

Another reason why I use this Company is that they make lovely quality Toys too.

Children’s Toys

Welcome to my Website Posted on Sat, April 07, 2018 12:25:52

“Why toys why now” ?

I love children and I love toys, we have four children of our own and have had the pleasure of fostering quite a few more young people too, I saw very early on the important effect toys and playing have on young people especially make believe where you can disappear and be who ever you want to be even just for a short time, in a happy place.
Learning through play is also key for the development of the child starting straight from birth. Play should be fun and through fun children learn to be social, emotional, intellectual, and it aides their physical development.

This is why I started my toyshop.

I’m new to blogging, so hopefully with practice i’ll improve.

My Little Toyshop

Welcome to my Website Posted on Wed, March 22, 2017 15:30:48

Well here goes, this is my first ever Blog……

2017 has brought with it a few new changes for From Me To You XX not least that the name has changed to The shropshire toyshop, the reason for this is simple, I have moved from The Shrewsbury Market and thought that a name with toys in the title would describe what I do a bit better. I am currently starting to sell online but I still do fairs and The Market at Nantwich on a Thursday (weather permitting).

Ultimately I would love to have my own shop as the products I sell look so much better out in the open and I also love to meet people and especially the little ones.

Please follow my facebook page and Instagram as my website is still a work in progress.

p.s. I will now keep you up to date with my news.
